My work explores narrative, memory, and the moving image through experimental film and performance. Initially trained as a playwright, I later shifted toward visual art and cinematic forms, developing a hybrid practice that brings together documentary, performance, and essay film. A pivotal moment in this transition came during a trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where I traveled to reconnect with my estranged father. The resulting works, *Breakfast with Abu* and *Hijab, Red Sea*, marked a new direction in my practice, using moving image to explore diaspora, faith, familial rupture, and the possibilities of reconnection through layered, non-linear forms.
